REPORT FROM CONSCIENCE CANADA

The organization was founded in 1978 with a PEACE TRUST FUND. Over the years we had many peacetrusters coming and going. We have an enthusiastic Member of Parliament (new Democratic Party) who has introduced the Conscientious Objection BILL (CO Bill) for several years, as recently as March 2002, however without any result.

We have been able to send out 4 Newsletters per year, we held a successful AGM (Annual General Meeting) in April with a public presentation of the Israelian/Palestinian situation. We have great difficulties finding the required board positions.

For several years we have given out the "Edith Adamson Award" to a person who worked hard and enthusiastically for our cause.

We have been co-sponsoring Peace Walks, Rallies, Conferences which were organized in Victoria, British Columbia.

At the moment we only have about 250 Peace Trusters on file. We are in a serious financial crisis and we may have to discontinue the organization.
